    MONEL405 is the easy cutting version of MONEL400. It is a nickel copper alloy that controls the addition of sulfur to form sulfide inclusions during the machining process, which can serve as "chip breakers" for cutting chips. Like MONEL400, alloy R-405 has corrosion resistance to seawater, high-temperature steam, as well as salt and corrosive solutions. MONELR405 is a solid solution alloy that can only be hardened by cold work. This nickel alloy exhibits good corrosion resistance, good weldability, and high strength. In rapidly flowing saline or seawater, it has a lower corrosion rate and excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking in most freshwater, as well as corrosion resistance in various corrosive environments, making it widely used in marine applications and other non oxidizing chloride solutions. This nickel steel alloy is particularly resistant to hydrochloric acid and hydrogen fluoride when they are degassed. Due to its high copper content, alloy R-405 is rapidly attacked in nitric acid and ammonia systems.

    Application areas of MONEL405:

    MONEL405 is mainly used for automatic thread machining materials and is generally not recommended for other applications. It is suitable for producing high yield automatic threading machine materials such as bolts.

    Processing and manufacturing of MONEL405:

    The manufacturing, pickling, and heat treatment of MONELR-405 are the same as those of MONEL400. Not recommended for forging. However, MONELR-405 alloy has excellent machinability and is recommended for use in automatic threading machines. The nickel copper sulfide produced by the sulfur in its composition can serve as a chip separator.

    This nickel alloy is the same as MONEL400 and can be connected through standard welding, brazing, and solder technology. Like MONEL400, MONEL405 can be welded through gas tungsten arc welding or gas metal arc welding.
