  Alloy 686 alloy | UNS N06686 is an improved alloy where the chromium content in C276 alloy increases and the iron content decreases. This alloy has both the resistance to reducing medium of 276 and the resistance to oxidizing medium of C22. In addition, low carbon, low silicon, and low iron endow the alloy with high microstructural thermal stability, reducing or precipitating harmful phases, thereby giving the alloy good resistance to sensitization and greatly improving its resistance to intergranular corrosion.

  Alloy 686 Features and Applications:

  Excellent corrosion resistance, can be used as a universal weld filler metal.

  686 alloy was specially developed to find an alloy that exhibits excellent corrosion resistance in many harsh corrosive environments.

  Alloy 686 alloy has excellent resistance to general corrosion, stress corrosion cracking, pitting, and crevice corrosion. During the welding process, its intergranular precipitation maintains the corrosion resistance of the heat affected zone of the welded joint. It can not only resist reducing acids, but also resist oxidizing acids and mixed acid solutions. It is particularly suitable for handling mixed acids containing high concentrations of halides. Good tolerance to mixed acid media with pH values of 1 and below and chloride content exceeding 100000 ppm.

  Alloy 686 alloy is used in the most harsh working conditions, mainly in chemical treatment, pollution prevention, pulp and paper making, industrial waste, and household waste treatment. Chemical processing includes heat exchangers, reactors, evaporators, and transmission pipelines. In terms of air pollution prevention and control, there are chimney linings, pipelines, furnace doors, scrubbers, flue gas reheaters, propellers, and covers.
