  • Alloy 625 Details

Inconel625 alloy is a solid solution strengthened nickel based deformation high-temperature alloy with molybdenum and niobium as the main strengthening elements. It has excellent corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance, and has good tensile and fatigue properties from low temperature to 980 ℃, as well as resistance to stress corrosion under salt spray atmosphere. Therefore, it can be widely used in the manufacturing of aviation engine components, aerospace structural components, and chemical equipment. This alloy is used for manufacturing engine casings, guide vanes, mounting edges and cylinders, fuel manifolds, and other components. It has passed practical application assessment and has a maximum operating temperature of 950 ℃; After long-term use at 550-700 ℃, the alloy exhibits some age hardening phenomenon, resulting in a slight decrease in its plasticity.

    Alloy characteristics

    1. Excellent corrosion resistance to various corrosive media in oxidation and reduction environments.

    2. Excellent resistance to spot and crevice corrosion, and no stress corrosion cracking caused by chlorides.

    3. Excellent resistance to inorganic acid corrosion, such as nitric acid, phosphoric acid, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, and mixed acids of sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid.

    4. Excellent resistance to corrosion from various inorganic acid mixed solutions.

    5. When the temperature reaches 40 ℃, It exhibits excellent corrosion resistance in various concentrations of hydrochloric acid solution.

    6. Good processability and weldability, without post weld cracking sensitivity.

    7. Manufacturing certification for pressure vessels with wall temperatures ranging from -196 to 450 ℃.

    8. Certified by the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (MR-01-75) to meet the highest standard level VII for use in acidic gas environments.

    Metallographic structure

Alloy 625 has a face centered cubic lattice structure. After holding at about 650 ℃ for a sufficient time, carbon particles and unstable quaternary phases will precipitate and transform into stable Ni3 (Nb, Ti) rhombic lattice phases. The molybdenum and niobium components in the nickel chromium matrix after solid solution strengthening will improve the mechanical properties of the material, but the plasticity will be reduced.

    Corrosion resistance

Alloy 625 alloy exhibits excellent corrosion resistance in many media. Excellent resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, intergranular corrosion, and erosion in chloride media. It has good resistance to inorganic acid corrosion, such as nitric acid, phosphoric acid, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, etc., and also has resistance to alkali and organic acid corrosion in oxidation and reduction environments. Effective resistance to chloride ion reducing stress corrosion cracking. There is almost no corrosion in seawater and industrial gas environments, and it has high corrosion resistance to seawater and salt solutions, even at high temperatures. There is no sensitivity during the welding process. It has resistance to carbonization and oxidation in both static and cyclic environments, and is resistant to gas corrosion containing chlorine.

    Application area

The low-carbon alloy 625 after softening and annealing is widely used in the chemical process industry, and its good corrosion resistance and high strength make it a thinner structural component. 625 alloy can be applied in situations where it comes into contact with seawater and withstands high mechanical stress. Typical application areas:

    1. Components of organic chemical processes containing chlorides, especially when using acidic chloride catalysts.

    2. Cooking and bleaching tanks used in the pulp and paper industry.

    3. Absorption tower, reheater, flue gas inlet baffle, fan (wet), agitator, guide plate, and flue in the flue gas desulfurization system.

    4. Equipment and components used for manufacturing applications in acidic gas environments.

    5. Acetic acid and acetic anhydride reaction generator.

    6. Sulfuric acid condenser.
